Welcome to PhraseBit
Olá e bem-vindo ao Blog do PhraseBit!
I’m a Portuguese learner who recently sat the B1 European Portuguese exam and built my own study materials to prepare. I developed practice questions and writing ideas, with help from my Portuguese partner to refine and validate (and patiently acting as an informal examiner while I repeated the same mistakes on loop, usually mixing up the perfect and imperfect past).
Taking the B1 exam felt like a bit of a stretch for me. I don’t live in Portugal and don’t have a lot of opportunity for full immersion in the language. Iterating over questions and writing is what really got me over the line. I passed the exam with “Bom” overall and “Muito bom” in the reading and speaking sections, "Bom" in writing, and a "Suficiente" in listening (listening in European Portuguese is still a mountain I’m climbing…)
I realised these resources could benefit other learners, who have already had lessons elsewhere, and are also looking to get that extra practice in. That collection grew into PhraseBit, a simple web app designed to help with A1, A2, B1, and B2 exam practice. It started as a way to teach myself app development and has become a tool to share exam-style practice for anyone aiming to build confidence in what they've already learnt. I also thought I'd occasionally blog about some of my own experiences preparing for and taking the B1 exam, how I'm getting along learning B2 content, and any new updates or features I try to experiment with in the app along the way. Hopefully these posts end up being useful like some of the other blogs/reddit posts out there as well.
