Overview

PhraseBit is a language practice app available on the web and as mobile apps for iOS. We designed PhraseBit to respect your privacy. We do not require accounts, we avoid third-party tracking, and the mobile apps do not collect or transmit personal data.

What we collect

The mobile apps do not collect, store, or share personal information. The app allows you to choose language and level preferences; these are stored only on your device (for example, local storage on web, app storage on mobile) and are not transmitted to our servers.

Report a prompt (feedback feature)

PhraseBit offers an optional feedback feature on the website. If you choose to submit a report, the message may include:

Reports are submitted through our website and stored in our Netlify dashboard, where we review and act on them. We do not add analytics, tracking, or advertising to the report flow. Reports are deleted once the issue is resolved and within 12 months at the latest.

Age suitability and children’s privacy

PhraseBit is suitable for general audiences. The app does not contain restricted content and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe that personal information has been provided to us in error, please contact us and we will delete it.

Mobile apps (iOS)

The mobile apps do not collect personal data, do not use third-party analytics SDKs, and do not track users. We do not request device permissions such as contacts, camera, microphone, location, or notifications. If a future feature requires a permission, we will request it clearly in-app and update this policy.

Website (phrasebit.com)

On the website, we store preferences locally in your browser for convenience. These never leave your device.

We may use Google AdSense on the website in the future. Google may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads. When AdSense is enabled, Google acts as an independent controller of any data it collects. You can learn more and opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.

Cookies and consent (web)

PhraseBit itself does not set cookies. If we display advertising on the website, Google AdSense may set cookies for ad delivery. In the EEA or UK we will either (a) seek your consent before any advertising cookies are set, or (b) show non-personalized ads by default (no tracking), as required. You can also manage your preferences via your browser settings.

Legal bases and your rights (UK and EU)

For the mobile apps, we do not process personal data. If you submit a report for a prompt and include information that could be personal, we process it on the basis of our legitimate interests to improve the service and fix issues. If you provide an email address for follow-up, we process it based on your consent and only to reply about that report.

If you contacted us and shared personal data, you may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of that data. To exercise your rights, email us at the contact below.

Data retention

We do not retain personal data by default. For report messages you send us via the website, we keep the message only as long as needed to investigate and fix the issue and for quality assurance, typically up to 12 months, after which we delete or anonymize it unless a longer period is required by law.

International transfers

We do not operate servers for user data. If you email us, your email provider and ours will process the message according to their standard infrastructure, which may involve transfers outside your country.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures for our website such as HTTPS, Content Security Policy, and HSTS. Because the mobile apps do not collect personal data, there are no user accounts or sensitive data stored by us. For report messages received, we use secure Netlify dashboard and limit access to authorized team members.

Third-party services

We avoid third-party services that track users. If a future feature requires a third-party service, we will choose privacy-respecting providers where possible and update this policy with details.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. If we introduce data collection in the mobile apps or enable advertising, we will update this policy and any relevant app store disclosures before the change takes effect.
